Hello!
Firstly, although today's update will be for Primary 3 Science students, it would be beneficial for the upper primary students to also look through today's guide to revise on the Human Body Systems.
You can download the summary guide on the link below. I will be updating with additional summary of the Human Circulatory and Respiratory System this week, so look out for that!
P3 Science - Human Body Systems
To begin, I have summarised for you the organs and roles in each of the five human body systems.
It is important that you memorise the roles of each of the body system, as this is one of the most commonly asked question in Booklet B. I have bolded these important keywords in the table below.
Summary of the Human Body Systems
The skeletal system and muscular system work hand-in-hand for the body to move.
Functions of the Skeletal System:
Function 1: The skeletal system supports the body and gives it shape.
The skeleton is like the stem of a plant, both provides the support and shape for the body of the living thing to stand upright.
Function 2: The skeletal system protects soft and important organs in the body.
Our body relies on all our important organs for survival. The brain sends signals to the body parts for them to work. The heart and lungs are in charge of your breathing. Your stomach and intestines ensures that the food you eat can provide your body with energy. This is why the skeleton is so important because it protects all of your organs from injury.
Moving on, I will focus on the bulk of this topic, which is on the Digestive System.
In the summary, I have provided you with the important details of the process at each step in the Digestive System. Also, do not be confuse on the order of the intestines.
REMEMBER IN LIFE YOU GROW, SO YOU GO FROM
SMALL INTESTINE ➜ LARGE INTESTINE.
IMPORTANT!
Often the most asked concept on digestive system is the start and end of digestion.
- Digestion starts at the mouth.
- No digestion takes place at the gullet.
- Digestion continues at the stomach and small intestine.
- Digestion ends at the small intestine.
- No digestion takes place at the large intestine.
I hope that this concept is clear for you. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.
May the summary benefit you as you are going through or revising this topic in school.
